IN HONOR OF WORLD REFUGEE DAY ...

The AjA Project seeks your support in our matching gifts campaign.

Dear Friends,

According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, out of an estimated 20 million refugees, displaced persons and other vulnerable groups around the world today, 75 percent are under the age of 18. In San Diego there are approximately 30,000 resettled refugees, comprising approximately 2.5 percent of all resettled refugees in the United States.

The AjA Project, dedicated to providing innovative media arts and photography-based educational programs for refugee youth, will be celebrating “World Refugee Day” on June 20th and the following week by featuring it's artwork in a series of events in San Diego. By doing so, The AjA Project hopes to bring much-needed visibility to the plight of refugees living in San Diego communities.

With the current state of the economy and funding entities being equally affected, your individual contributions are needed more than ever. With your help, AjA will be able to maintain programming at all four sites, including El Cajon where we are currently serving 20 middle school youth that arrived to San Diego from Iraq only six months ago.

And just to show how much we need your support, the AjA Project Board of Directors has agreed to match your gift dollar for dollar, up to TEN THOUSAND dollars! That means if 100 people give 100 dollars, we will raise 20,000 dollars, which is enough to cover the cost of one program site for the fall semester.

Please help us raise 20,000 dollars by clicking the link below and contributing 100 dollars, or by sending in your remittance envelope!

We appreciate your support in advance!!
