Record of Truth Participatory Photography Program
.karen project

The AjA Project found a niche in the community by providing an innovative educational program that can also serve as an outlet for the students' creativity. Our program also empowers the local community by providing a tool to document their rapidly changing community.

In the Photography Program, AjA instructors teach from a unique curriculum that utilizes documentary photography to encourage students to analyze their surroundings, document their lives, improve their communication skills, and explore their creativity.

This innovative practice includes a class for the students to create documentaries of their own lives and communities by using point-and-shoot cameras. The photo documentaries are augmented by the students’ writings, drawings and oral stories.
