PROGRAM SUPPORT – INTERNSHIP
Position: Program Support Intern (1-2 per semester)
Status: Internship – Unpaid (w/option of college credit) – 2 days a week,
approx 12-15 hrs/week
Time Frame: February to June, July to August, OR September to December
Application Deadline: August 1st for Fall semester, January 15th for Spring, May 1st for Summer
General Description:
As a program support intern, you will be working with youth in the after-school program, as well as assisting the Program Director with general program support in the office.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Program Director with student image and narrative management
- Assist lead photography instructors with classroom preparation
- Manage equipment inventory
- Compile student information and enter into database
- Attend class twice a week as an assistant instructor (classes are held mid-afternoon)
Requirements:
- Tolerance and acceptance of differing religious and political views
- General working knowledge of MAC computers, Internet communications, Microsoft Office, especially Excel spreadsheet management and graphic illustrations
- Strong communication skills
- Time management skills and the ability to prioritize
- Self-directed and initiative-taking
Highly Desirable Qualifications:
- General knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign and Photo Mechanic
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of photography and/or visual arts
- Experience working and communicating with ethnically diverse communities
- Experience teaching/working with middle/high school students
- ESL teaching experience
- 1 year experience working in an office environment or doing clerical work
- Background in art therapy, child psychology, or middle/high school counseling
- Knowledgeable about and/or lives in one of Southeastern San Diego’s ethnically diverse communities
- Fluent in Arabic, Spanish, Farsi, Karen, Kizigwa, Swahili, Chaldean, Somali or Hindi
